Sports study program

Courses in the humanities account for a large part of INSA group's engineering programs: 20% of the INSA Rouen engineer curriculum focuses on subject areas in the humanities such as languages, communications, human sciences and management. In addition to the institution’s nine main scientific specializations, INSA Rouen aims to foster awareness of world issues by offering curriculums on five different themes: dance, sports, media, theater and music.

OVERVIEW

The sports study program is geared towards students with curricular adjustment requirements or with an "elite athlete" status*. The status enables athletes to obtain academic program adjustments to plan their professional career while ensuring achievements in sports. INSA Rouen has already welcomed over 200 elite athletes..

Victor JOFFRAY, elite athlete in a Mechanics specialization

"I enrolled in the INSA Rouen Sports Study program at the start of my undergraduate studies. Curriculum adjustments allow us to set time aside for training and tournaments. The integration of elite athletes is well organized, and well implemented by the training staff whose support allows us to practice our sports in optimal conditions. Professors also play a key role since they readily organize additional examination periods for athletes. Sports play a major role at INSA Rouen, through the mandatory physical and sports activities, and sports associations highly involved on campus. The school greatly participates in a large number of sports events (Rouen Normandie Sup Cup, High Five, Challenge du monde des grandes écoles...). Moreover, the institution is very successful, in particular thanks to our cheerleaders who win every tournament. A tailored coaching program is a unique asset and enables the athletes to benefit from common training sessions".

EDUCATIONAL METHODS

Organization

Students can choose from a three-year undergraduate program and a four-year engineering program. They also benefit from adjustments in their academic schedule. Professors are informed of a three-party agreement established between a student, the academic director and the sports department. The system is organized in such a way to help students/athletes set personal goals and obtain guidance throughout the academic year.

Training program schedule

Each athlete is provided with three hours per week of tailored support by a state-certified sports coach in the areas of injury prevention and management, psychological coaching and specific physical training.
